How to Ensure Your Propane Appliances Are in Tip-Top Shape
You depend on the pros at Fairclough Propane to keep your tank full. However, making sure that your propane appliances are in good working order is something you should always keep in mind.
But first, a warning: If a propane-powered appliance needs to be repaired, please leave it to the pros! Even the most die-hard DIYer should not attempt to work on propane appliances!
Also be aware that Fairclough Propane is always on call!If you find yourself in an emergency situation with your heating equipment, call us using our emergency phone line – (973) 383-1768 – so that someone can assist you immediately.
Here are some helpful tips that can reduce the risk of potential propane appliance malfunctions:
- Ventilation is key: Your propane-fueled appliances need to “breathe.” Make sure all ventilation is clear so that gases can flow easily out of the home. Also, keep the area around your appliances clear to allow for proper airflow.
- Do not try to modify or repair any parts of propane-fired appliances by yourself!: Valves, regulators, connectors, controls or other appliance and cylinder and tank parts are off-limits! You definitely don’t want a gas leak in your home!
- Have older appliance connectors inspected: If you have propane appliances that are more than 20 years old, have a qualified technician inspect the connectors.
- Store flammable liquids away from propane-fueled appliances: Never place gasoline, paint thinner, and other flammable liquids nearby – your appliance’s pilot light could ignite the fumes and vapors from these liquids.
